JULIA3
An exploration into a Julia Set from the Eastern Cleft of the Mandelbrot Set.
Originals rendered here in two ways -
First eight images are in Amiga AGA 256-color, 768x480
Final eight images are in 768x480, 24-bit
All were rendered initially at count 16384. The first and second groups are
actually the same images, showing two different ways of exploiting the beauty
of a set of fractal zooms by rendering in two different graphics modes (256-
color and 24-bit). The GIF and HAM versions of the first eight images are
very faithful to the originals. The deeper 24-bit zooms are shown in 512
colors.
Images 5 and 13 are named THE OWL (turn them sideways to see why).
The Julia Set from this location starts as a billowy cloudlike object, with
a little bit of detail in one part only - but magnifying that part yields
these astoundingly colorful patterns seen in the deeper zooms.
Total magnification from P00 to P07 (or from P08 to P15) is only 128, but
look where that got us! And despite the small magnification, you'll find
(like I did) that rendering into the interesting parts of Julia Sets can
be extremely time-consuming. High count values are absolutely necessary
for satisfactory detail, but it seems most of these areas actually have
lots of points which are near the maximum count.
